A brand new night of bass is coming to London, bringing good vibes and catering for all those with a taste for bass across a whole host of BPM’s!

The first event is gonna focus on the Garage/House tip with the second room being taken over by DubstepFM.

DJs on the night will be Seiji, Phil Estine, Whistla, L.A. Boxers, Logic, LSD and Yellaman

Seiji:
Paul ‘Seiji’ Dolby started in music as a classically trained cellist, but as a teenager in the early 1990s he discovered Hardcore, Jungle and later US House music. His early experiments in electronic music were released on the seminal Jungle/D’n’B label, Reinforced.

Seiji’s influence is now more keenly felt than ever, with myriad UK funky and contemporary garage producers referencing his work. He has now returned to underground dance music, presenting his own fresh and eccentric take on bass heavy music with remixes including Erykah Badu, Crookers, Florence & The Machine and Gorillaz, and releases on Numbers, Fools Gold, Ninja Tune, Mad Decent, to name a few.

Phil Estine:

Whistla:
Whistla’s musical journey began at school where he first discovered his talents and chose to develop them by playing in various bands. As he grew older his taste changed, and in the early ‘90’s he was drawn to the then current Rave scene where he enjoyed, experienced and became consumed by it’s musical offerings
having experienced the change of Rave music, Whistla’s love for the scene where he had originally honed his DJing skills over many a performance, began to evolve and eventually nestled comfortably in UK Garage and Dubstep.

>> Fast-forwarding to 2004, Whistla, driven by sheer passion for music, matched with a selfless desire to help other artists showcase their talent, set up Sub FM which is now an internationally recognised and award winning internet station. 2006 saw the birth of his Dubstep label ‘Ox Rider’ & later in 2009, his ‘Future Garage’ label, L2S Recordings was born, which still, to this day, remains the number 1 Future Garage imprint.
In his own words…“Future Garage is a movement not a genre, FG is just a starting point not the end destination. It’s a collection of DJs and Producers who wouldn’t fit comfortably in the UKG oeuvre or the Dubstep one. They are somewhere inbetween, and Future Garage is that collection of DJs and Producers.”

L.A. Boxers
L.A. Boxers are a House, Garage, Bass music trio hailing from Croydon, South London. Having initially begun as a duo of Alex & Rob around 2009, with Alex’s enthusiasm for DJing, and Rob’s production skills, they begun life creating a few cheeky bootlegs and mixes, which gained them some notoriety from the Blogs. This lead to bookings up and down the country, including some of London’s top clubs including Fabric, Cable, & Corisca Studios, to name a few. They are now a trio, with the inclusion of Callum aka Jack the Lad in early 2012, and are also running several successful nights in Croydon, as well as co-running House/Bass label Loft Party Records. You can also catch them bi-weekly on either Rood.FM or CorruprRadio.NET.

These guys are worth keeping an eye on in 2013.

Croydon has always been synonymous with Dubstep and Underground music, yet, apart from Croydub, there hasn’t been a regular underground music night for far too long. So a group of music lovers has come together to provide you with a resolution to this…….Croydon Bass Lift.

Bringing together all styles of underground music including Dubstep, House, Garage, D&B & Techno, Community want to give people access to the sounds that can be heard all over the world on their own doorstep.

On Saturday 2nd February, at Scream Lounge in South Croydon, we will be providing 3 Rooms of sounds, with a specially bought in 10k rig to supply the bass pressure, and showcasing local talent, whether that be up-and-coming artists or people that have been pushing the sounds they love since forever. This event is an opportunity to push the unique sounds that were forged in our town, and have now gone global, but appear to be missing from the local clubs.

Having carved a niche for himself over recent years with numerous quality,
cavernously deep, releases on Mala’s infallable Deep Medi imprint – V.I.V.E.K
now turns his dub-wise talents to present this impeccible single for Tectonic.
V.I.V.E.K has very much been putting the ‘dub’ into dubstep recently – both by means
of his spacious 140bpm productions – and the ‘System’ event he runs with fellow dub-
Argonaut, Mala – where he uses his own-built sound-system to pound avid crowds
into a deep dub-coma!
Keeping very much to the original spirit of UK dubstep, V.I.V.E.K uses his sense of
space to thoughfully pace out his powerful sonic blows to maximum effect. ‘Against
The Tide’ builds initially with old school Metalheadz style pads and neatly clipped
soulful vocal cuts before suddenly unleashing the full weight of bass; championed by
the sound of a demented robot war-cry, charging full force into the night… It takes a
very skilled producer to present the old-school sentiments of dubstep in an
energised, progressive way – yet V.I.V.E.K has achieved exactly that. We need more
dubstep like this please!
Similar sonic flavours are echoe’d in ‘Trinity’ which takes the momentum of ‘Against
The Tide’ into darker territories, letting some of V.I.V.E.K’s more junglistic influences
shine through in the process. This pounding half-step rhythm is laced with a series of
potent growling bass parts that sets the dystopian mood of this dark, dubwise
soundscape. Bass-weight-dubstep-purism. Undiluted.
